The Southern Peru Copper Corp (SPCC), the Peruvian mining company has awarded a final acceptance certificate to Abengoa for the project, which is located in the country’s Moquegua region.

This is a 220kV transmission project which links the town of Ilo to the National Interconnected System (SEIN).

For the project, Abengoa received an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project.

It constructed the Moquegua substation with two bays feeding the L-2033 and L-2034 lines, both 220 kV, and amounts to 54 and 187 kilometers respectively. The contract also included a 220 kV switchyard for the Ilo 3 electrical substation.

With the project’s completion, Abengoa claims to guarantee its client (SPCC) with the required power to engage in its activities. Presently, SPCC is said to be undergoing expansion process as well as strengthening the electrical system in the south of the country.

With a presence in Peru for more than 22 years, Abengoa's portfolio includes over 4,000 km of transmission lines and more than 30 substations.

In June, Abengoa completed the installation of an electric substation in Oman. The contract was awarded by the Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), whose value was €18m.

As part of the contract, Abengoa supplied, constructed, tested and commissioned the Al Dreez electric substation with 132/33kV. It is located 230km from Muscat, the capital Oman. The substation is expected to transmit power to more than 200,000 people Al Dhahirah area.
