Viridity Software Appoints New President, CEO

Published: 15-Jun-2010

Viridity Software, a company that provides data centre energy resource management (ERM) solutions, has appointed Robert Steinkrauss as its new president and CEO.

Prior to joining Viridity Software, Robert Steinkrauss served as president and CEO of Chosen Security, a company providing identity verification and security services, where he was instrumental in merging the company with PGP, which was recently acquired by Symantec.

Before that he was the president and CEO of Ingrian Networks, a developer of enterprise data protection and privacy systems. He also served as the president and CEO of Xedia, where he oversaw the company's revenue growth from zero to $21m over two years and sold the company to Lucent for $246m, the company said.

Mr Steinkrauss also served as chairman and CEO of Raptor Systems and during his tenure he took the company public and delivered revenue 273% year over year and sold the company to Axent Technologies in 1998 for $240m.

Viridity's EnergyCenter energy resource management (ERM) software provides a methodology that traces energy consumption through the application and IT equipment layer, performs a thorough analysis of the findings, and then generates in-depth actionable reports that includes visual modeling.

According to the company, this enables data center and facilities management to balance power, cooling, and utilization in order to save money, enhance service levels, and extend the life of the data center and its assets.

Mr Steinkrauss, said: "Viridity Software presents an extraordinary opportunity to join a company with a foundation of strength in a nascent market on the verge of rapid growth. Now, more than ever, data centre professionals cite power and energy management as their number-one operational issue.

"Viridity's EnergyCenter software delivers the industry's most efficient, cost effective and accurate solution for reducing data center energy consumption.

"Moreover, EnergyCenter enables business organizations to better manage power availability and minimize the risk of power outages, as well as discover additional hidden power, cooling and space capacity."
